Karuvannur: Aravindakshan's statement reveals involvement of CPM leaders in bank fraud case

Thrissur: The statement issued by CPM leader P.R. Aravindakshan before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Karuvannur Bank Fraud Case have come out.
His written statement, dated September 14, prior to his arrest in the case, contains major allegations against senior CPM leaders and their involvement in the fraud. He claims that former minister AC Moideen and former MP P.K. Biju have accepted money from Satheesh Kumar, the prime accused in the case.
During the 2016 and 2021 assembly elections, Satheesh Kumar is said to have paid money to Moideen and Biju. In 2016, Rs 2 lakh was paid to Moideen through Satheesh Kumar. Later, Rs 5 lakhs were transferred to Biju’s bank account from Satheesh Kumar’s brother’s account in 2020.
The CPM leader has also claimed that Satheesh Kumar held numerous secret meetings with LDF convener EP Jayarajan during his visits to Thrissur. However, he claims he is unaware of what the two discussed during those meetings.
In another shocking revelation, Aravindakshan claims that he accompanied Satheesh Kumar to meet DySP Antony when a vigilance probe was ongoing in the case. He also claimed Satheesh Kumar had a good rapport with CPM party state committee member M K Kannan.
ED had earlier informed the Special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court that Aravindakshan had revealed the names of CPM leaders involved in the fraud. Aravindakhsan issued a statement on September 14 detailing the involvement of CPM leaders in the multi-crore fraud at the bank.
However, following this, he filed a complaint against the Enforcement Directorate alleging that the investigating agency had beaten him and forced him to implicate leaders in the case.
