‘Kartha’s statement is media creation’: Pinarayi alleges attempt to drag him into Exalogic case

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan has dismissed the statement reportedly given by Sasidharan Kartha to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Exalogic-CMRL financial transaction case as a "media creation". He also stated that many are trying to see if the Exalogic case can be traced back to him. He was responding to questions from media personnel during a press conference held at AKG Centre.

"Who published the report about Sreemathi Teacher? Just because it appeared in the media, does that make it true? Isn't all this your own creation? You can create anything you want. How long have you been creating such stories? Have you been able to achieve any result by doing so? Now, try this one for a while and see what you can accomplish. Give it a good try to see if you can gain anything from such fabrications. I am not going to say anything more to you right now," Pinarayi Vijayan said.

When asked whether Veena owns another company called Laker India Corporation besides Exalogic, Vijayan retorted with a counter-question, “Have you moved on from Kamala International?”

Sasidharan Kartha had reportedly stated to the ED that he paid money to Vijayan's daughter Veena and her firm Exalogic solely due to his personal proximity to Pinarayi Vijayan. Kartha also reportedly informed the ED that neither Veena nor Exalogic had provided any services to CMRL. The statement, recorded by the ED on April 17, 2024, recently came to light.

Alongside this, reports emerged indicating that Veena owns another company in addition to Exalogic. The information released suggests that the firm 'Laker India Corporation' belongs to Veena. Indications are that crucial documents related to the company were seized by the Enforcement Directorate during a raid conducted at Veena’s residence on May 27.
