CPM directs Karat Faisal to withdraw from contesting in Koduvally

Kozhikode: The CPM district committee has asked Karat Faisal not to contest the Local Self-Government Polls. Earlier, CPM has named him as LDF candidate for Chundappuram division of Koduvally municipality.

MLA PTA Rahim has announced the decision to field Karat Faisal as LDF candidate.

According to latest reports, the CPM district committee has directed Faisal to withdraw from contesting the polls.

Karat Faisal, who is an accused in Karipur gold smuggling case, was grilled for hours by customs in the controversial diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case in Thiruvananthapuram.

In view of his criminal background, an argument broke out between the members within the party.

“CPM will declare the candidate as per our criteria. The criteria followed last year will not be considered this year,” said CPM district secretary P Mohanan.
