Kannur: According to the police remand report, former Kannur District Panchayat president P P Divya is alleged to have directly orchestrated a crime with premeditated criminal intent. The report asserts that Divya’s actions reveal a criminal mindset, and organisers of a farewell event have stated in their testimonies that Divya was not invited. Visual evidence shows a chair being vacated for her upon her uninvited arrival.

In relation to an NOC to a petrol pump, the senior superintendent testified that no complaints regarding the issue were received at the Collectorate’s Inspection Department. It is alleged that Divya was responsible for defaming Naveen Babu on social media, leading to his suicide. The report also includes details of several existing cases against Divya.

Collector’s testimony key to Divya’s bail plea

Thalassery: A statement by Collector Arun K Vijayan that ADM Naveen Babu admitted to “mistakes” is likely to play a key role in Divya’s bail application. The lawyer representing Divya, Adv K Vishwan, suggested that this may relate to mistakes linked to Divya’s accusations. The possibility of other personal errors being admitted at that time was deemed unlikely. Clarification is expected from investigative officers.

The Collector’s statement was reportedly left incomplete in the anticipatory bail order without specifying the nature of the mistakes. An order for the suspension of Prashanth from service was also submitted alongside Divya’s bail plea in court.

Prashanth was allegedly suspended for bribery, a fact that Divya claims supports her allegations. Divya’s accusation against the ADM is believed to be based on Prashanth’s earlier allegations, which Prashanth had presented to the Vigilance Department and investigating officers. However, this evidence was not included in the case diary when the anticipatory bail was reviewed, with Prashanth’s statement being critical as he reportedly disclosed the bribery incident. Prashanth had visited the DySP’s office to record this, and though an RTI request was filed to access this information, it has not yet been provided. A petition has been filed before the Kannur First-Class Magistrate to preserve CCTV footage of Prashanth’s visit as evidence.

Advocate Vishwan further mentioned a prior complaint filed by Gangadharan of Kuttiattoor against revenue officials, including Naveen Babu, for delays in processing a land reclassification application. Divya’s bail plea was filed before Judge K T Nisar Ahmed in the Thalassery District Sessions Court and is expected to be heard on Friday.
