Kannur: The post-mortem report on the death of Kannur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu has come out.

According to the report, Babu died by suicide in his quarters sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m on October 15.

Meanwhile, the Land Revenue Joint Commissioner found no evidence against Babu regarding allegations of accepting bribes for issuing a NOC for a petrol pump.  According to official sources, there are no statements or evidence suggesting that he intentionally delayed the file related to the NOC. On Monday, Kannur town police took the statement of Collector Arun K. Vijayan at his official residence in the evening.

Attending his send-off function uninvited last Monday, Divya criticised Babu for delaying the approval of a petrol pump in Chengalai for several months and remarked that he granted approval only two days after being transferred, hinting that she knew the reasons behind the sudden approval.

The official's death came to light when his wife, a tehsildar, and their children went to Chengannur railway station on Tuesday morning to receive Babu, who was supposed to take charge as ADM of Pathanamthitta later that day.

When he was not found on the train, the family tried to reach him on his mobile phone, but it went unanswered. They subsequently contacted his colleagues in Kannur, and during their search, Babu was found hanging in his quarters.
