'Asked Rs 15 lakh to withdraw nomination, gave Rs 2.5 lakh', reveals K Sundara

Kasaragod: It has been revealed that K Sundara, who filed nomination to contest assembly polls from Manjeswaram against BJP state president K Surendran, was given Rs 2.5 lakh to withdraw his nomination. Rs 15 lakh was offered first, Sundara told Mathrubhumi News. The similarity in names made Sundara's candidature crucial in the election.

Surendran had promised to take care of other demands after winning the polls, Sundara revealed. It was the local BJP leaders who delivered the amount at house. K Surendran contacted over phone, Sundara added.

Sundara had filed nomination as BSP candidate and later withdrew the same. On the day before withdrawing the nomination, BSP district leadership had filed a complaint with the police stating Sundara was missing.

Following this, Sundara appeared at BJP Manjeswaram election committee office and announced to the media that he is withdrawing his nomination.

In 2016, Sundara had contested the polls as independent candidate and secured 467 votes. Then K Surendran was defeated for mere 89 votes.
