K Sudhakaran to file defamation case against MV Govindan for POCSO case remarks

Kannur: KPCC president K Sudhakaran is preparing to file a defamation case against CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan for his controversial remark targeting him in a POCSO case involving controversial fake-antique dealer Monson Mavunkal.

Last week, MV Govindan revealed before the media that K Sudhakaran was present when Monson Mavunkal sexually assaulted a minor girl at his residence. He even remarked that Crime Branch would take Sudhakaran into custody for questioning based on a statement issued by the victim.

However, in a major embarrassment for CPM, the Crime Branch team probing the case dismissed the claims put forth by MV Govindan. These claims were based on information cited from a report published in the CPM-mouthpiece Deshabhimani.

As per the latest report, Sudhakaran had sought legal advice on the matter and will file a contempt case on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch on Friday recorded the arrest of K Sudhakaran and later released him in an alleged fraud case related to Monson Mavunkal.
