Govt should open worship centres, review illogical restrictions: K Sudhakaran
Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president and MP K Sudhakaran said that the government should explain the logic behind the decision to open liquor shops while the worship centres remain closed.
Sudhakaran demanded that the government should grant permission to open worship centres, libraries, movie theatres and other public utilities on the basis of test positivity rate (TPR) and following Covid protocol.
The people are going through mental and financial crisis. So, it is unscientific to open only liquor shops. The government open only the institutions that provide them profit while majority of the services useful for the public are not available.
The states which had higher TPR and Covid cases than Kerala have returned to normal life. But Kerala remains in Covid fear. It is an unscientific move to limit the public transport as many people depend on it. In fact, the government should arrange facility for more people to travel following Covid rules, he further said.
The state should review its illogical decisions like weekend lockdown. This will only lead to super spread due to heavy rush on Fridays. Also the preparations to face the third wave remain only in announcements. The people are pushed to insecure condition with this, he alleged.
