K. C. Joseph decides to make room for new generation; won't contest elections again

Kannur: Irikkur MLA K. C. Joseph has decided not to contest elections again. Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, Joseph who has been representing the Assembly constituency for the last 39 years, said he was making room for the new generation.
"I have contested from Irikkur 8 times and have won each time. The upcoming Assembly election would be the 9th. To give the young generation the chance, I have decided not to contest the polls this time. I have informed the Congress leadership about my decision," he said.
K. C. Joseph thanked the people of Irikkur for electing him from the constituency for 8 consecutive times. Among the Congress strongholds, only Irikkur and Puthuppally have seen the same candidate winning consecutively. I won from Irikkur for 8 consecutive times because of the people's love for Congress and UDF. For that I am grateful to the people of Irikkur, he said.
Initially, I was a stranger at Irikkur. But now I know every area in the constituency like the palm of my hand. I have intervened in the problems of the people honestly and truthfully. I believe that it is the reason for the love of the people.
K. C. Joseph said that no decision has been taken as to who would contest from Irikkur. Discussions over preparing the list of candidates are progressing, he added.
