Kochi: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a brand-new double-decker bus service in Kochi, offering passengers a vibrant and scenic ride through the city. Designed as part of the corporation’s Budget Tourism initiative, the service promises a unique travel experience—especially for those seated on the open upper deck.

The maiden journey was flagged off in style from the Ernakulam Boat Jetty, with dignitaries hopping aboard for a round trip before opening the ride to the public. Minister P Rajeev inaugurated the service, stating, “The double-decker bus will be a boost to tourism in Kerala, especially in Kochi. This is a time when even prominent figures like Anand Mahindra are eager to visit places like Kadamakkudy.”

Chief Traffic Manager (Budget Tourism) R Udayakumar welcomed guests at the launch event, while Ernakulam Assistant Transport Officer T A Ubaid delivered the vote of thanks. The function was presided over by MLA T J Vinod. Legislator K J Maxi and Mayor M Anilkumar along with councillors and representatives of various KSRTC employees' unions were also present.

What’s the route
The double-decker bus departs daily at 5 pm from the Boat Jetty Stand and travels through Marine Drive, High Court Junction, Gosree Bridge and Kalamukku Junction. The return route covers the High Court, Kacherippady, M G Road, Thevara, Venduruthy Bridge, Thoppumpady BOT Bridge and more. Just before the BOT Bridge, the bus takes a turn, allowing passengers to enjoy waterfront pathways and ambient music. The round trip ends back at the starting point around 8 pm. The bus is the same open-top model previously used in the heritage tourism project in Thalassery.

How to book

The upper deck experience is priced at ₹300, while lower deck tickets cost ₹150. The bus has a total of 63 seats. Tickets can be booked online via https://onlineksrtcswift.com.
