‘It’s a joint operation against LDF’: Kerala LoP Pinarayi Vijayan questions ED move to arraign him

Kannur (Kerala): Following the historic return to power of the LDF for a second consecutive term in Kerala, right-wing forces have united to launch a coordinated attack aimed at destroying the LDF and the CPM, claimed Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan. Addressing media in Kannur, Vijayan remarked that he feels only sympathy for those who believe they can dismantle the movement.

Vijayan alleged that even prior to the 2021 Assembly elections, the ruling BJP at the Centre and the UDF in the state had reached an understanding against the government. Once the LDF secured power, both factions entered into a fierce competition to undermine it, raising suspicions of a joint programme of central and state entities.

Addressing the CMRL issue, Vijayan stated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is adopting an approach of leaking fresh, politically motivated allegations through the media.

He noted that he has not received any official letter or communication from the ED mentioning his name in the CMRL-Exalogic case, adding that he only became aware of the developments through media reports. The ED had sent a letter to the State Police Chief requesting the registration of a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. According to media reports, the ED handed over a 25-page document, he said.

Vijayan pointed out, "While official letters to the police are not typically leaked immediately, news reports clearly indicate whether the details reached the media before or after the State Police Chief received the communication.”

He also alleged that the ED is operating with a clear political agenda.

Expressing confidence in the public's judgment, he stated that the people of Kerala would not believe these claims.

The Leader of the Opposition also defended his daughter T Veena, regarding the transactions between CMRL and her firm, Exalogic. Reiterating his stance, Vijayan asserted that no undue favours or assistance were ever extended to CMRL.
