Thiruvananthapuram: Infant chokes on breast milk, dies

Thiruvananthapuram: A three-month-old baby died after choking on breast milk in Thiruvananthapuram. The baby boy named Jithesh was the only child of Jayakrishnan and Janimol, a couple hailing from Pallichal in the capital city.

The boy’s mother had put him to sleep on Sunday after breastfeeding him. The parents rushed the baby to a private hospital on Monday early morning after discovering that the baby was no longer responding to their calls. Due to a low pulse, the three-month-old was shifted to the SIT hospital, however, the baby succumbed while undergoing treatment on Monday evening.

Doctors explained that breast milk had blocked the baby’s airway leading to his death.
