'Ilaya Thampuratti' of Pandalam Palace, Ambalika Thampuratti, passes away

Pandalam: Kaipuzha Puthen Koikkal Rohini Naal Ambalika Thampuratti, the 'Ilaya Thampuratti' of the Pandalam Palace, passed away at the age of 94. She breathed her last at her residence on Tuesday at 11 p.m. She was the wife of late Neelakanthan Namboothiri of Eranur Illam, Kuttumukku, Thrissur, a noted freedom fighter.

Deepa Varma, Treasurer of the Pandalam Palace Management Group, is her daughter, and Venugopal of the Mavelikkara Palace is her son-in-law. Her siblings include the late Pandalam Palace Valiyathampuran Punartham Naal K Ravi Varma, the late Valiya Thampuratti Thiruvathira Naal Lakshmi Thampuratti, K Rajaraja Varma, and K Rama Varma (Janayugam).

The cremation will be held at 3 pm at the Kaipuzha crematorium under the Pandalam Palace. In view of her demise, the Pandalam Valiya Koikkal Temple has been closed and will reopen on August 2.
