'If you engage in politics, be ready to be dealt with politically': PC George slams Bishops

Poonjar (Kerala): Following in the footsteps of BJP state vice president Shaun George, his father and NDA candidate PC George has launched a scathing verbal attack on the Catholic Church leadership for urging believers to vote for UDF. Using derogatory language against the Bishops, George warned that if they engage in politics, they will be dealt with politically and will receive no respect.
PC George, who fought the election from Poonjar constituency, stated that Shaun is his son and only speaks the truth. He questioned the decency of the Bishop of Kanjirappally over calling all the convents and instructing them to vote for the UDF. George asked what right the Bishop had to make such a demand, asserting that if any candidate in Poonjar has ever benefited the Church, it is himself. He described those calling for UDF votes as shameless and suggested he would be forced to denounce both the Church and the Bishops, whom he called senseless and ill-informed.
Regarding the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), George added that the Bill is coming and those who oppose it can simply go home. He questioned the problem with providing accounts for money received from abroad, claiming that Amit Shah had even told the Church that any accounts they provided would be approved out of respect for their identity as Christians. George expressed frustration that they continue to protest despite this. He reiterated that every Bishop is merely pushing their own political agenda and warned that Bishops who talk politics will be met with political opposition rather than respect. He also remarked that anyone who reads the Deepika newspaper is crazy, asserting that the Bishops are not the Church and that he cannot stand by and listen to everything they say.
George further clarified that the BJP's goal is to treat all religious groups with dignity, though the Church is not required to align with the party. He insisted there is no doubt the FCRA Bill will be implemented and suggested that those with concerns should stay at home. He urged Bishops not to behave like fools, stating that he has no need for those who do not want him.
George concluded by noting that the era when people voted based on the instructions of a Bishop is over, and claimed he would win the Poonjar seat with a majority of 2,0,000 votes.
