Idukki youth accused of possessing drug found dead; suicide note claims innocence

Kattappana: A 24-year-old man from Kallukunnu, Joe Martin Jose, who was arrested on Tuesday on charges of possessing synthetic drug MDMA, was found dead on Thursday in the Anchuruli region of the Idukki reservoir.

His body was found during a joint search conducted by the police and the fire and rescue team in the afternoon. A suicide note was recovered by the police, stating that he had been arrested for a crime he did not commit and did not wish to cause distress to anyone. 

Jose had gone missing on Wednesday after being granted bail in the case, and his vehicle was later found in Anchuruli. It is suspected that he had informed close friends about his innocence in the case and his intention to end life.
