I never asked for this; what reply should I give, asks Kannur VC on show cause notice

Kannur: Kannur University Vice-Chancellor Gopinath Raveendran said that the person who appointed him should be answerable to the show cause notice issued to him.
His remark came against the backdrop of Governor Arif Mohammad Khan issuing a show cause notice to all 9 VCs in Kerala seeking explanation on why they should not be removed from their post. The VCs have time until 5 PM on November 5 to reply to the show cause notice.
"I didn't ask for the job. I wasn't even in Kerala when my appointment was finalised. What answer should I give to the notice issued?" he asked during a press meet in Kannur.
"In the past, appointments were made in the university without forming a search committee. This was the case during the tenure of the former government. This convention was only followed here as well," he said.
However, he pointed out that the recent Supreme Court verdict on the Vice-Chancellor appointment at APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University will likely be applicable to the Kannur varsity as well. He added that he would reply to the notice issued to him.
