‘I didn’t mean to hurt anyone...I apologise’: Influencer Jasmin Jaffar’s Guruvayur video backfires

Thrissur: Social media influencer and former Bigg Boss Malayalam contestant Jasmin Jaffar has issued a public apology after facing backlash for filming a reel at the Guruvayur temple premises. In a note shared via her Instagram story on Saturday, Jasmin acknowledged the criticism and expressed regret for unintentionally hurting religious sentiments.
“To those who love me and to everyone else, I understand that a video I made caused distress. It was never my intention to hurt anyone or create controversy. I sincerely apologise for the mistake that happened out of ignorance,” she wrote.
The apology comes days after the influencer posted a short video reel filmed within the sacred premises of the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple. The clip, which featured her rinsing her feet in the temple pond and walking through the Nadapandal (temple corridor), quickly drew criticism from devotees and temple authorities.
In response, the Guruvayur Devaswom Administrator OB Arun Kumar lodged an official complaint against Jasmin, alleging that the filming violated temple protocols. The complaint was first submitted to the Temple Police and later forwarded to the court for further action.
According to temple officials, filming in the Nadapandal is strictly prohibited under a court order, and the temple pond, considered a sacred part of the temple, is off-limits for photography or videography without prior written permission.
The reel, which was uploaded three days ago, triggered widespread debate online. Jasmin has since deleted the video from her Instagram account following the controversy.
