Hyder the horse on the run in Pathanamthitta; leaves three injured

Pathanamthitta: A horse taken out for a routine walk caused panic in Pathanamthitta city on Sunday afternoon after it broke loose and ran through the streets, injuring three people, including a child.

The incident occurred around 1:30 pm when the one-year-old horse, named Hyder, was being walked from Central Junction to the stadium. While running uncontrolled, the horse struck a scooter ridden by K.F. George, a native of Adoor Parakode, causing him facial and hand injuries. He has been admitted to the General Hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident moments later, Sangeetha (32) and her six-year-old son Dashwanth, residents of Azhoor, fell off their scooter after losing control upon seeing the horse approach. Both were injured and are receiving treatment at a private hospital in Pathanamthitta. None of the injuries are reported to be serious.

George’s scooter was also damaged in the impact. The horse eventually ran into a petrol pump in Azhoor, where it was restrained by staff and locals. Hyder, who is regularly walked through the city, belongs to a resident of Azhoor. The horse sustained a minor injury to its right eye in the chaos and was given first aid.
