Mannarkkad (Palakkad): The Mannarkkad police have recorded the statement of Sadique, husband of Shahina, an All India Youth Federation (AIYF) leader who was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Shahina, a 31-year-old AIYF district committee member, was found hanging in her rented residence in Mannarkkad. Sadique, who was abroad, returned to Kerala on Wednesday and reported to the police.

In his statement, Sadique made serious allegations against a local leader, suggesting he might have been involved in his wife's death. He claimed that Shahina had been engaged in financial transactions with this leader, which had led to frequent family disputes.

Sadique revealed that he had previously raised these concerns with several party officials, including the district secretary. He announced his intention to file a formal complaint with the police, urging a thorough investigation into the matter.

CPI District Secretary K.P. Suresh Raj stated that no formal complaints were brought to their attention regarding the allegations cast by Sadique.
