Pantheerankavu dowry case: Kerala High Court quashes case after complainant takes u-turn

Kochi: The High Court has quashed the case of a young woman who accused her husband of dowry-related violence in Pantheerankavu. The decision came after the complainant withdrew her allegations, and both she and her husband requested the court to dismiss the case.
Despite the complainant's withdrawal, police continued their investigation and collected evidence. However, the court ultimately dismissed the case, stating that it could not proceed without an active complaint.
Earlier in this domestic violence case, the High Court ordered both the accused, Rahul P. Gopal, and his wife to undergo counselling. Rahul had petitioned the court to dismiss the case, asserting that all issues with his wife had been resolved and misunderstandings clarified. The complainant supported this claim with an affidavit.
Initially, the woman had made serious allegations against Rahul, including attempts to strangle her and severe physical abuse. Her family reported the abuse to the police after learning of the situation. Following the accusations, Rahul fled to Germany.
However, about a month later, the complainant retracted her statements, admitting that they were false. She expressed regret for misleading the police and the media. In a video on her YouTube channel, she revealed that her family had pressured her to accuse Rahul of violence due to dowry demands. She stated her desire to reconcile with him and avoid further legal proceedings.
