Super ‘Wedding’ Sunday at Guruvayur temple: Record 354 couples tie the knot

Guruvayur: Sunday will be a historic day in Guruvayur as the temple hosts a record 354 weddings. Ceremonies began as early as 4 a.m., taking place across six wedding mandapas (stages). Preparations were completed on Saturday night, with all mandapas set up and ready by then.
Six priests are officiating the ceremonies. The early morning wedding took place in the backdrop of traditional Mangala Vadyam (Nadaswaram). To ensure smooth proceedings amid the expected crowds, heavy security has been deployed
A team of 100 police officers and 50 Devaswom security personnel has been stationed around the temple to manage the crowds and maintain order. Security arrangements began on Saturday night, with police presence established at key locations.
City Police Commissioner R. Ilango visited Guruvayur on Saturday evening to personally review the security preparations. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sinoj also provided necessary instructions to the team on the ground.
In addition to the ceremonies at the temple, marriage receptions will be hosted in the marriage halls of 90 lodges across the city. Given the expected rush in front of these lodges, the police have deployed officers in these areas to manage the crowd effectively.
