CPM leader’s son thrashed by SFI leaders in TVM college

Thiruvananthapuram: A first year graduate student was allegedly thrashed by a gang of people led by former SFI unit officer bearers at Government Sanskrit College, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram. The injured has been identified as Adarsh, son of Marayamuttom native and CPM leader S Bindu, vice president of Perumkadavila grama panchayat. The incident took place around 3 pm on August 24.
As per reports, Adarsh was thrashed with a log by the assailants and sustained severe injuries on his jaw and face. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. It is learnt that the attack was launched to take revenge for not participating in a sack race organised by the SFI as part of the Onam celebrations in the college.
The Cantonment Police have registered a case against former students and SFI unit office bearers, Ambalamukku native Naseem, Nellimoodu native Jithu and Karamana native Sachin, in connection with the incident. Other assailants are yet to be identified, police said.
