Thiruvananthapuram: When the Neyyattinkara Sessions Court pronounced the death sentence in the Sharon murder case, Greeshma remained expressionless in the courtroom. Her demeanor was one of complete silence, making it difficult to discern whether it stemmed from guilt or shock. Initially, her eyes glistened with tears, but she soon adopted a detached and indifferent stance. Meanwhile, Sharon's mother and family broke into tears in the courtroom, finally feeling a sense of justice for their son's death.
They emerged from the court with folded hands, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the capital punishment handed down to Greeshma, who had brutally taken their son's life. Overcome with emotion, Sharon’s mother said that God had heard her cries for justice. “God came in the form of a righteous judge and pronounced the verdict,” she said, feeling a sense of relief and satisfaction with the decision.
Through her tears, Sharon’s mother repeatedly said, “Justice is served… My dear son got justice.” She thanked the prosecution, police and the court for their support, expressing deep gratitude for the justice served in her son’s murder case.
The court observed that Sharon had suffered immense pain, with his internal organs severely damaged. It noted that this was a meticulously planned murder and emphasised that there is no legal provision that prohibits imposing the maximum punishment in such cases. Relying on 48 circumstantial pieces of evidence, the court delivered the verdict of capital punishment.
The judgment also highlighted that Sharon was deeply devoted to love, continuing to love Greeshma even on his deathbed. The court remarked that Sharon did not wish for Greeshma to be punished and that whether he had complaints or not was irrelevant.
Despite their ongoing romantic relationship, Greeshma attempted to kill him, a calculated act of betrayal.
The court further observed that Greeshma had lured Sharon by promising intimacy and murdered him without any provocation. It rejected her claim that Sharon had assaulted her and pointed out that even after committing the crime, she made desperate but futile attempts to evade responsibility. The judgment concluded by underscoring Greeshma’s deliberate actions and her ultimate failure to escape justice.
