Govindan pledges comprehensive probe into Anvar’s allegations, accuses media of twisting facts

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary MV Govindan announced that the party has reviewed the complaint filed by MLA PV Anvar. The complaint eventually led to the suspension of Sujith Das, the former SP of Pathanamthitta. Govindan stated that the complaint primarily concerns administrative lapses by officials and should be addressed at the administrative level.
Govindan elaborated that the state government has suspended Sujith Das, IPS, based on an inquiry report related to Anvar’s allegations. He emphasised that the issues raised involve administrative shortcomings, which necessitate a thorough administrative investigation. The state government has appointed a committee led by the DGP to conduct this investigation, and the report is expected within a month. Any issues arising from this report will be addressed robustly by the party. The CPM, according to Govindan, follows a strict procedure for handling complaints, ensuring thorough examination and action as needed.
Govindan praised the Hema Committee, highlighting its importance in ensuring justice for women, and suggested that similar committees are needed across India to address women’s issues effectively.
He also criticised media and opposition parties, accusing them of exploiting the situation for political gain. He claimed that the media and opposition are attempting to discredit Anvar and leftist politics.
Regarding allegations of links between CPM and BJP/RSS, Govindan dismissed them as unfounded. He refuted claims of CPM having connections with BJP or RSS, asserting that such assertions are baseless.
On the matter of PV Anvar’s complaints about chief minister’s political secretary P Sasi, Govindan clarified that no formal complaints have been made against Sashi. He also noted that no action has been taken against EP Jayarajan, who remains a central committee member.
Govindan addressed the broader issue of how complaints should be handled, asserting that public statements are not the correct way to resolve internal party matters. He reaffirmed that the party would investigate any relevant complaints received.
Lastly, he confirmed that the issue concerning the ADGP related to Thrissur Pooram row is also under review.
