2 engineering students killed in bike-car collision in Kollam

Kollam: Two engineering students were killed in a road accident after their bike collided with a speeding car on Kollam-Chenkotta National Highway. The deceased are identified as 20-year-old B N Govind, son of Kundara native Vijayan, and 20-year-old Chaithanya, daughter of Kasargod native Ajayakumar. 

Govind and Chaithanya were students of College of Engineering in Thiruvananthapuram. They were travelling to Thenmala with friends. The group of students set off on the trip with five bikes. The accident happened in the Chethady region on their return journey when an overspeeding Maruti Ertiga car rammed into Govind’s Bullet.

Govind died on the spot. Chaithanya, who was severely injured, was rushed to a private hospital in Kottarakkara but soon succumbed to the injuries. The car belongs to a native of Panampatta in Pathanapuram. The people in the car were also injured. Kunnikkode police have filed a case and started the investigation.
