Kannur: Kannur University asserted that Governor Arif Mohammed Khan had not discarded the list of members recommended to the board of studies. Out of the 700 members in the boards of studies, the details submitted regarding 25 members were incomplete. The governor has demanded to submit a revised list by including these data. The governor has also asked to clarify the circumstances in which the retired teachers and teachers from self financing colleges were also included in the list.

VC had formed 72 boards of studies under the Kannur University last year. Following this, KPCTA alleged that the University is attempting to appoint 68 ineligible persons as teachers in several boards of studies. The university has selected unqualified and inexperienced teachers by excluding hundreds of eligible senior teachers, noted KPCTA.

A High Court division bench had ordered to revoke the boards of studies formed by violating the university rules. Later, VC wrote a letter to the chancellor seeking to nominate new members by maintaining the appointed members in the boards.
