Got a message to link your mobile number on Parivahan? It’s real, not a scam, confirms Transport Dept

Kozhikode: The Motor Vehicles Department has clarified that messages being received on mobile phones in the name of the Central Ministry of Road Transport—asking vehicle owners and licence holders to link their Aadhaar-linked mobile number with their RC and driving licence—are genuine and not fraudulent.
For the past few days, such instructions have been reaching the phones of vehicle owners and licence holders, asking them to link their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers with their documents.
Mobile numbers can only be added or updated through the official Parivahan website. This can also be done in person through Akshaya or e-Seva centres.
Security is the priority
Linking the Aadhaar-linked mobile number with your driving licence and registration certificate (RC) offers several benefits. For example, you will receive alerts if a vehicle registered in your name is sold or transferred. In case of fines, you’ll be notified via SMS, allowing you to respond or take appropriate action in front of the authorities.
Any service carried out under the leadership of the Motor Vehicles Department will involve OTP (one-time password) verification—hence linking your mobile number is essential.
