Thiruvananthapuram: As part of heightened security measures for New Year celebrations in the district, the Thiruvananthapuram city police have imposed a ban on the participation of known goons in DJ parties across the state capital.

The directive has been issued by the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner.

According to the order, individuals listed in the police goons list must not be allowed to attend DJ parties. Organisers have been instructed to immediately inform the police if such persons are found participating in these events.

With New Year celebrations planned across the city, the Thiruvananthapuram City Police have released detailed guidelines to ensure safe and orderly festivities. Around 1,200 police personnel will be deployed across the city as part of the security arrangements.

The police have made it mandatory for hotels and establishments hosting DJ parties to obtain prior permission. Events held without permission will not be allowed. One of the key conditions is that individuals with criminal backgrounds, including those listed as goons or booked under KAAPA cases, must not be permitted to participate.

Organisers have been warned that they will be held responsible if any person with a criminal background is found attending their events. They have also been directed to maintain a record of participants’ details, verify identities, conduct checks, and ensure that no weapons are carried into the venues.

Strict guidelines have also been issued regarding drug use. The police said the move follows recent incidents where the presence of goons at DJ parties led to disruptions.

The objective of the measures, police said, is to ensure that New Year celebrations remain safe and enjoyable, especially for women and children.
