Kochi: Kerala’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil announced on Saturday that women shoppers will receive up to a 10 percent discount on non‑subsidised items at the state‑run Supplyco outlets, beginning November 1.

Speaking at the valedictory event of Supplyco’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Minister clarified that the new discount would be in addition to the existing price reductions already offered by Supplyco. He indicated that a number of new schemes are lined up, with an ambitious monthly sales target of ₹ 250 crore.

As part of the expansion plan, mobile supermarkets will roll out across 14 districts, covering all 140 constituencies. For ration card‑holders, boiled rice will be added to the subsidised varieties, allowing purchase of up to 20 kg of rice through Supplyco—double the present limit of 10 kg.

“Supplyco is implementing marketing strategies comparable to international retail chains while continuing its market intervention initiatives to support the public,” Anil said.

Meanwhile, Industries Minister P Rajeev noted that Supplyco achieved a record Onam‑season sales figure of ₹ 386 crore this year, the highest in its history. He also stressed the need to bolster digital marketing and focus on locally‑produced goods.
