No shortage of food grains; Centre, state continue to supply
Alappuzha: People need not be worried about food shortage during COVID-19 as both the central and state governments are competing to supply food grains through public distribution system.
Minister P Thilothaman told Mathrubhumi that food grains and groceries required for 3 months have been stocked in Kerala. Food items will perish if stored for a longer period, so items for only 3 months are stocked, he added.
The free ration announced by the Centre will be supplied this month. AAY cardholders (yellow card) and priority cardholders (pink) are eligible for this. Each member of a card will get 5 kilograms of grain. Also they will get 1 kilogram of green gram or chick pea provided by the Centre this month.
Non-priority cardholders (blue and white cards) will get 10 kilograms of rice at Rs 15 per kg rate in addition to their normal share.
AAY (yellow)
- 30 kilo rice and 5 kilo wheat for free and one kilo sugar at Rs 21.
- One kilo green gram or chick pea for free. Those who did not get green gram or chick pea in April and May will get a total of 3 kilo.
- Each member in the card will get 5 kilo rice for free from June 21.
Priority (pink)
- Each member will get 4 kilo rice and 1 kilo wheat at Rs 2 per kg.
- One kilo green gram or chick pea for free per one card. Those who did not get green gram or chick pea in April and May will get a total of 3 kilo.
- Each member will get 5 kilo rice for free from June 21.
Non-priority subsidy (blue)
- Each member in the card will get 2 kilo rice at Rs 4 per kg.
- Upto 1-3 kilo flour at Rs 17 per kg as per availability for one card.
- 10 kilo rice at Rs 15 per kg for one card from June 8.
Non-priority non-subsidy (white)
- Two kilo rice at Rs 10.90 per kg for one card.
- Upto 1-3 kilo flour at Rs 17 per kg as per availability for one card.
- 10 kilo rice at Rs 15 per kg for one card from June 8.
Kerosene for all
Cards of all categories will get kerosene for Rs 20 per litre. The houses that are electrified will get half a litre kerosene per card and that are not electrified will get 4 litres per card.
