Free entry to all national parks, tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries in Kerala on select dates; win chance for 1-year pass too

Thiruvananthapuram: In celebration of Wildlife Week, the public will enjoy free entry to all national parks, tiger reserves, and wildlife sanctuaries across Kerala from October 2 to 8.

As part of the week-long celebrations, winners of various competitions and up to five of their immediate family members will also receive free entry to all protected areas in the state for one year from October 8.

Competition Details

The Kerala Forest Department will host district-level competitions for students on October 2 and 3 at the District Forest Knowledge Dissemination Centre, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar (P.T.P) Social Forestry Complex.

Competitions are organised for different student categories:

  • Lower and upper primary students: Pencil drawing, watercolour painting based on nature and wildlife.
  • Government-recognised high school, higher secondary, and college students: Quiz, essay (Malayalam/English), speech (Malayalam), pencil drawing, and watercolour painting.

Each government-recognised institution can send up to two students per category per event. Quiz programmes may be attended by a team of two students or a single participant.

A state-level poster designing competition is also open for the public.

Participants must register at the registration counter at least half an hour before the scheduled start on October 2 and 3, with a certificate from their school or college head.

Cash awards and certificates will be presented to winners securing first, second, and third positions. Winners at the district level will qualify to participate in state-level competitions.
