Malappuram: The Muslim League has issued strict directions to M. C. Kamaruddin, the key accused in Malappuram jewellery deposit scam.

Kamruddin has been asked to submit a detailed report regarding the investors and his assets within September 30. A party meeting presided over by Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal issued the directions.

P. K. Kunhalikutty informed that Muslim League directed Kamaruddin to return the money of the depositors within six months. At the same time, Kamaruddin resigned the UDF Kasaragod district chairman post as demanded by the party. At present, he is not serving in any post of the party, Kunhalikutty added.

“Muslim League gives priority to the interest of the depositors. In his explanation, Kamaruddin said that his business collapsed,” said Kunhalikutty.

He also informed that the party has assigned a member to collect details about the investors and the assets possessed by Kamaruddin.
