4-year-old dies after concrete pillar falls on him at Konni elephant camp

Pathanamthitta: A four-year-old boy died in a tragic accident at the Konni Elephant Training Centre on Friday after a concrete pillar collapsed on him.

The deceased has been identified as Abhiram, son of Aji and Shari, hailing from Kadampanad in Adoor.

The incident happened around noon. According to eyewitnesses, the child held onto the pillar, which was already unstable, causing it to fall on his head.

Abhiram had arrived at the elephant camp earlier in the day with his mother and relatives. They were on their way back after visiting a nearby temple when they stopped at the camp. The pillar that fell was reportedly about four feet tall.

The child was rushed to Konni Taluk Hospital and later shifted to Pathanamthitta General Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
