Kerala local body election: Former minister S Sharma’s wife to contest from Paravur

Paravur, Ernakulam: Asha, wife of former minister and CPM state committee member S. Sharma, will contest the local body elections in the state as the LDF candidate from Ward 7 (Kottaykkakath) of the Paravur Municipality. The official announcement will be made on Saturday.

Asha, who began her public life as the Aluva area secretary of the SFI, is entering the electoral arena for the first time. A retired Assistant Executive Engineer of the KSEB, she currently serves as the secretary of Pratyasha Palliative Care.

She is also a state committee member of the KSEB Officers Association.

There are reports that KJ Shine, who was the LDF candidate in the recent Lok Sabha elections, may also contest in the Paravur Municipality, but this has not yet been confirmed. Shine, who is currently a municipal councillor, has contested and won three times.
