Widespread flooding across Idukki
Heavy rain battered several parts of Idukki from Friday night to Saturday morning. Mundiyeruma and Koottar were among the worst affected, with severe flooding isolating families and destroying crops.
In Koottar, five vehicles were swept away in the strong currents. Locals said they had not witnessed such intense rainfall in recent years.
As water levels rose rapidly, authorities opened the shutters of the Kallar and Mullaperiyar dams to manage the situation and prevent further flooding in low-lying areas.
