Five youths arrested for circulating video of hurling bomb at Malappuram police station

Melattur (Malappuram): A five-member gang was arrested by the Melattur police on Saturday for allegedly creating and circulating a video of hurling a bomb at the police station. 

The accused have been identified as Poduvannikkal natives Mohamed Riyas (25), Mohamed Hawaz (22), Salim (20), Muhammad Jasim (19) and Salmanul Fariz (19). According to reports, they created the video to go viral on social media. 

The video was uploaded on Instagram by Mohamed Riyas, who is the prime accused in the case. Initially, he was taken into custody and others were arrested on the basis of his statement about their involvement in the crime. 

The youths have been booked under offences such as incitement to violence and attempt to defame police via social media. They were arrested by SHO KR Ranjith, SI Sherif, CPOs Rajan, Surendran Babu, Vinod, Ragesh Chandra among others.
