Deepu murder: FIR names CPM workers as accused, Cites rivalry over working in Twenty20 as motive

Kochi: A copy of the FIR on the murder of CK Deepu, a Dalit activist of Twenty20 Kizhakkambalam, has come out on Saturday. The FIR has named CPM workers as accused in the case.

According to the FIR registered based on the statement of the complainant Nisha Aliyar (who is Kizhakkambalam panchayat member), rivalry over Deepu’s engagement with Twenty20party is the motive behind the murder. 

Sainudheen, the first accused, caught hold of Deepu’s neck and when the latter fell down the former stomped his head multiple times, the FIR said. The other accused joined Sainudheen and thrashed Deepu, it added. The FIR also mentions that the accused verbally abused the complainant woman. 

Meanwhile, Twenty20 chief coordinator Sabu M Jacob on Saturday levelled serious allegations against CPM over the murder of Deepu. 

"The accused had conspired to kill Deepu. They contacted Kunnathunadu MLA PV Srinijin before and after the incident," he alleged. 
Srinijin should be the first accused in the case, Sabu asserted.  

Deepu was beaten up during the lights-off protest organised by Twenty20 to prevent the alleged attempts of Kunnathunadu MLA to sabotage the Street Light Challenge initiated in the panchayats ruled by Twenty20. Deepu succumbed to his injuries on Friday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
