Kozhikode: K Kailashnathan’s home, Rose Banks in West Hill, Kozhikode is in ecstasy on account of his appointment as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. His mother Leela and sister Manju live in this house. Kailashnathan had come here three months ago. At the time, he was the special Officer-in-charge of the renovation of the Sabarmati Ashram.

Kailashnathan’s mother Leela said that since he won the All India Merit scholarship when he was studying in the 6th standard, he has achieved many proud achievements. She said that the three letters “IAS’ that his father repeated as a child to Kailashnathan, greatly inspired him.

“He used to constantly encourage his relatives' children in their studies. Kailash is their role model. He does not celebrate holidays but is rather always busy with work. The only rest he takes is when he reaches Kozhikode. Reading is his main pass time. Kailashnathan often said that the Nilgiri Library is the reason for his growth. Kailash, who comes here at least once a year, turns into a true Kozhikode native. He goes to the market or the harbour by car and buys fish,” Manju Jagdish, his sister and retired school principal said.
