Factionalism to the fore: CPM to expel area secretaries in TVM

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM leadership has taken a decision to address the issue of factionalism that has emerged within the party due to conflicts during the elections. In response to a warning from CPM state secretary MV Govindan, the Thiruvananthapuram district committee has decided to expel four area secretaries.

The party has assessed the situation of escalating disputes among factions in the Nemom, Vithura, Kilimanoor, and Nedumangad area committees in the district. As a result, it has been decided to hold emergency meetings in Kilimanoor and Nedumangad, in the presence of a state committee member.

In the meantime, two area secretaries, Parakuzhi Surendran in Nemom and N Shoukathali in Vithura, will be expelled. The leadership has also considered revamping the area committee in Palayam to bolster party activities in the capital region. Due to health issues faced by Sreekaryam Anil, the party will appoint a new area secretary in Kazhakootam.

Tensions have risen in Thiruvananthapuram between district committee member Rajendrakumar and Kovalam area secretary PS Harikumar, following the release of the latest area committee working report. Rajendrakumar has alleged that Harikumar included sharp criticisms of him in the report and has lodged a complaint with the state leadership. However, MV Govindan has cautioned the district leadership to uphold discipline and warned of severe consequences for members who disclose confidential information from the party.
