ED raids ex-MLA PV Anvar’s residence, properties linked to him

Malappuram, Kerala: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday launched searches at the residence of former Nilambur MLA PV Anvar, in connection with an investigation into loans taken from Kerala Financial Corporation (KFC).
According to media reports, the ED is simultaneously conducting raids at around 10 locations associated with Anvar.
The probes relate to the generation of proceeds of crime through irregular loan sanctions causing a loss of ₹22.31 crore. ED is examining disproportionate assets, suspected benami holdings, diversion of funds into real-estate projects, and other unaccounted investments to trace the laundering trail
Earlier, the Vigilance Department had also carried out a search at Anvar’s residence. The case before Vigilance alleged that Anvar had manipulated and influenced officials to commit irregularities. Following this, action was later taken against some of the officials involved.
The ED’s inspection is believed to be a continuation of that probe. The agency is also examining details related to foreign financial assistance received.
Anvar, who served as the independent Nilambur MLA backed by the LDF/CPM from 2016 to 2021, and key persons were present during the action, which is proceeding peacefully and cordially.
