CMRL-Exalogic case: ED begins process to attach assets of Kerala LoP’s daughter Veena

Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated procedures to attach properties belonging to T Veena, daughter of Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, in connection with the CMRL-Exalogic suspicious money transaction case. The move comes ahead of filing the charge-sheet in the case. Earlier, the agency had frozen assets worth ₹29.02 crore belonging to various accused, including Veena.

According to ED findings, T Veena, who is a director of Exalogic Solutions, owns a flat, though the investigation team has not disclosed its location. Two months ago, an ED team conducted inspections in Pinarayi and Pathiriyad villages in Kannur. The probe team identified 80 cents of land registered in Veena's name along the Pinarayi–Parapram road in Pinarayi village. During that visit, the ED officials also inspected land adjacent to Pinarayi Vijayan's residence in Pathiriyad village, which is also believed to be registered in her name. Valuation of all these properties has been completed.

The frozen assets include ₹15.57 lakh belonging to Laker India Corporation (where Veena is a partner) and ₹27,585 belonging to Exalogic. In addition, ₹11.70 crore belonging to CMRL founder MD Sasidharan Kartha was frozen. Last week, ED officials also recovered over one kilogram of gold jewellery from the bank locker of Mohammed Febish, a friend of former Minister P A Mohammed Riyas, in connection with the CMRL case. This jewellery has also been frozen.

Files are currently being processed on a fast-track basis to secure approval from higher ED authorities for the final attachment.
