Fled hotel during DANSAF raid out of fear, says Shine

Kochi: Actor Shine Tom Chacko has said that he fled from the third floor of a private hotel at Ernakulam out of fear after learning that the city police's DANSAF (District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force) team had arrived for inspection. In the statement given to the police, he said that he suspected that those approaching him intended to harm him.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the police have decided to examine Shine's phone to collect more details regarding the incident. They may also scrutinise records of payments and WhatsApp chats.
Shine appeared at the Ernakulam North Police Station for questioning at around 10 a.m. on Saturday. He entered the station without speaking to the media. It was previously reported that the police had prepared a preliminary questionnaire containing 32 questions.
A major controversy erupted after video footage emerged showing actor Shine Tom Chacko making a daring escape from the third floor of a private hotel in Kochi upon learning of the DANSAF team's arrival. Shine jumped from the window of his hotel room near North Overbridge in Kochi—first onto a sheet covering the floor below, then down to the car porch above the first-floor swimming pool. From there, he climbed up the staircase to the hotel lobby and escaped through the front entrance. He was seen wearing a cap while fleeing.
Shine Tom Chacko was recently acquitted by the court in the 2015 cocaine case due to lack of evidence. He and a group of models were arrested during a raid in Kadavanthra, Kochi, with cocaine in their possession. His name had also surfaced in a separate case in which a woman was caught with hybrid marijuana by the excise department in Alappuzha.
