Karipur: There was an attempt to run over DRI officials near the airport here on Sunday during a vehicle check. The car rammed the two-wheeler of DRI officials.

The DRI officials had stopped an Innova car bearing registration number KL-16-R-5005 when it came out of the airport. While the officials were asking for identification, the car speeded forward ramming the bike of the DRI officials.

However, the driver lost control and the car rammed an electric pole on the side of the road and stopped. One person ran away from the car but was taken into custody.

Two DRI officers on the bike sustained injuries and were rescued by other officials. They are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode.

The Kondotty police visited the spot and have started an inquiry into the incident.
