Employees Union demands probe into missing MG university certificate formats

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress-affiliated Employees Union of Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the missing of several degree certificate formats (blank certificates) from the PD-5 section of the Pariksha Bhavan. 

Employees Union General Secretary Jose Mathew requested the concerned authorities to examine whether a mafia is present in the varsity and verify whether certificates are missing from other sections. 

These document formats are crucial as they contain barcodes and holograms for authentication. If they end up in the wrong hands, it is easy to generate fake degree certificates by incorporating student details, register numbers, and the vice-chancellor's signature. 

Earlier, there were reports that 100 blank degree certificates went missing from the University. However, MG University authorities have denied such allegations and reports. 

Dr C.M. Sreejith, Exam Controller of the University, informed that University will issue a press release on the matter by Wednesday evening. 

Earlier today, it had come to light that 154 UG and PG blank certificates had gone missing from the University. Of this, 100-degree certificates went missing five months ago, and the remaining PG certificates barely a week ago.
