Thiruvananthapuram: A father and son were found dead near a field in Nagaroor, close to Attingal, police have confirmed. The victims, identified as 65-year-old Kochunni and his 40-year-old son Akhil, were discovered on Tuesday morning near a residential plot adjacent to the Nagaroor block office. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths, including a high-voltage fence installed in the area , set up to deter wild boars.

The pair were found in a well-maintained paddy field during a routine morning check by the field caretaker. Forensic teams examined the scene, and Nagaroor police are continuing investigations into the incident.

Police suspect the father and son may have entered the field to collect tapioca, as uprooted tapioca stems were found near the bodies. Police are examining whether the electric fence was installed without permission and whether the victims were unaware of the danger. An official inquest is underway, and post-mortem examinations will determine the precise cause of death.

Kochunni worked as a coconut climber, while Akhil earned a living as a daily wager.
