Dangling from a rope, heroic youth brings fawn back to life with CPR | WATCH

Thrissur: Before it could sink into the depths of the well, a fawn was given a second chance at life—thanks to the swift and selfless intervention of wildlife rescuer Lijo Kachery. The baby deer had almost lost its breath and heartbeat when Lijo descended into the well and performed CPR, bringing it back to life.
Once the fawn showed signs of full recovery, it was gently released into the nearby forest and reunited with its mother.
The incident took place on Friday evening at Chennayippara, where the young deer fell into the open well in the backyard of Choorayil Antony’s house. The mother deer, along with her two fawns, had entered the property, and in a moment of panic, one of the fawns fell into the shallow, unprotected well.
Antony’s wife immediately alerted the Mandamangalam Forest Range Office. Responding quickly, the Forest officials arrived at the spot with Lijo, known for his expertise in rescuing animals and snakes from such dangerous situations.
By the time help arrived, the fawn had already been inside the well for nearly half an hour. As soon as it started to sink, Lijo was lowered down with rope clamps. He gently cradled the unresponsive fawn in his arms and began administering CPR.
"It had stopped breathing and its heart had stopped. I gave it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, then compressed its chest," Lijo recalled. "When it started showing signs of life, I rushed it to safety. With more care, it regained enough strength to stand. The mother and the other fawn were waiting nearby."
Forest officials K S Anilkumar, Praveen A Nair, M B Bijesh and Arun Gopi were also part of the rescue team.
Thanks to the timely action and compassion of the rescuers, what could have been a tragic end turned into a heartwarming reunion between a mother and her little one.
