Crude bomb hurled at Congress office in Kozhikode; protest intensifies across state

Kozhikode: The Congress office at Perambra in Kozhikode was attacked on Tuesday by unknown assailants who hurled a crude bomb at around 12:55 am damaging the windows and doors. Fortunately, nobody was inside the office during the time of the attack.

Apart from Kozhikode, other parts of the state also witnessed similar attacks.

Congress leaders alleged that CPM workers were behind the attack. It is suspected the attacks came as retaliation for youth congress workers raising slogans inside a Indigo flight in which Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was travelling.

A statue of Mahatma Gandhi placed in the Payyanur Congress office was beheaded by attackers. Further, the house of KPCC president K Sudhakaran’s wife was also attacked. Meanwhile, the state police chief directed the police officials to tighten security measures. A case was charged against T Siddhique MLA for conducting protest march in Kalpetta without prior permission.
