Kollam welcomes CPM State Conference with flag hoisting and tributes to martyrs

Kollam: The CPM state conference flag was hoisted at the Ashram Grounds (Sitaram Yechury Nagar) here on Wednesday. The flag was raised by the reception committee chairman and minister, K N. Balagopal. The flag, the torch, and the flagpole procession reached the conference city on Wednesday evening.

The flag, brought from Kayyur by State Secretariat member M. Swaraj, was handed over to P. K. Sreemathy
. The torch, brought from Vayalar under the leadership of State Secretariat member Dr. P. K. Biju, was received by LDF convenor T. P. Ramakrishnan. The flagpole procession, which began from Sooranad, was led by Central Committee member C. S. Sujatha. Torches from the 23 Martyrs' Memorials in the district also converged in the conference city.

On Thursday morning, the flag will be hoisted in the representative conference city at the Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Nagar (C. Keshavan Smaraka Municipal Town Hall). After floral tributes at the Martyrs' Memorial, CPM coordinator and Politburo member Prakash Karat will inaugurate the representative conference.

The CPM state conference was first held in Kollam in 1971, and it was also held here in 1995.
