CPM's 5th Int'l Congress on Kerala Studies slated for 2024; district-level seminars to start in May

Thiruvananthapuram: The AKG Centre for Research and Studies of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) here has decided to organise its fifth International Congress on Kerala Studies in 2024.
Ahead of the Congress, seminars on 20 subjects will be held at district levels. The first such event is scheduled in Kozhikode in May on education. Local learning centres will cooperate with the seminars. The discussions will facilitate a comprehensive discussion that will determine the development paths of Kerala, said TM Thomas Isaac, secretary of the Academic Committee of the Congress.
The first Congress was held in 1994 under EMS Namboothiripad's leadership. The 4th Congress was held in 2016. The fifth edition was delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
S Ramachandran Pillai, Chairman of the Academic Committee inaugurated the new website of the Congress. Registration for the district events will begin on April 1.
An average of 200 papers will be presented at each seminar, said Isaac. The seminar in Kozhikode will be held at Nadakkavu Girls Higher Secondary School from May 3 to May 5 in association with Keluettan Study and Research Centre. An Academic Committee has been formed under former minister Ravindranath's chairmanship to coordinate the activities. Prof Prabhat Patnaik, Prof Anita Rampal and many others will present papers, he said.
The registration fee is Rs 2,000 for institutions (3 persons), Rs 500 for individuals, and Rs 250 for students.
