Alappuzha: A legal notice has been served to senior politician G Sudhakaran by a CPM leader, alleging defamation after being labelled a "political criminal".

The legal notice was sent by V G Vishnu, the president of the Alappuzha District Sports Council and the LDF parliamentary party leader in the Alappuzha municipality. The notice explicitly states that defamation proceedings will be initiated if Sudhakaran fails to withdraw the remark and tender an unconditional apology.

Following his recent estrangement from the CPM leadership, Sudhakaran had publicly alleged that "political criminals" had infiltrated the party ranks in Alappuzha.

While his primary criticisms were directed at leaders, including H Salam, Sudhakaran had specifically named V G Vishnu among this group. It is against this public statement that Vishnu has now initiated legal action.
